About the FRI
Mala Fide is the academic journal of the FRI – Swiss institute for feminist legal studies and gender law.
For 30 years, the FRI has been researching law from a feminist perspective: from legal theory through social security, migration, tax, labour, family and criminal law to legal policy. It develops foundations for gender-equitable law-making and the application of the law, and translates research findings into practice.
Between 2015 and 2026, the FRI already published a quarterly Gender Law Newsletter, which tracked developments at the intersection of gender and law and established itself as a key reference in this field over the course of a decade. This long-standing success has fostered the conviction that feminist legal research deserves its own academic platform.
Mala Fide is the result of this further development and serves as a space for critical analysis, academic depth and queer-feminist perspectives.
